Overview
Our safari begins in Hwange National Park, within a private concession at The Hide, a camp renowned for its exceptional waterhole activity and unique photographic opportunities. Here, wildlife comes to you. From the camp’s famous underground hide, you’ll find yourself at eye level with elephants, buffalo, and a variety of plains game as they gather to drink often just meters away. It’s a perspective that transforms the way you photograph and experience wildlife, offering intimate, uninterrupted moments that few places in Africa can match. The rhythm of Hwange is set by its waterholes, and during the dry season, the sheer volume of wildlife creates a constant flow of activity, perfect for photographers looking to capture raw, natural behaviour.
As the journey unfolds, we transition to the legendary Mana Pools National Park, where the experience shifts from stillness to movement, and from observation to participation. Based at the beautiful Vundu Camp, set along the banks of the Zambezi River, we step into a world where walking safaris define the experience. Here, you are no longer just an observer you become part of the environment. Imagine standing quietly as a bull elephant feeds nearby, or positioning yourself at ground level to photograph wild dogs as they move through the forest. These are the kinds of encounters that make Mana Pools so unique.
Because wildlife in Mana Pools has long been accustomed to respectful on-foot encounters, animals often tolerate human presence in a way that allows for incredibly close and natural photographic opportunities. The floodplains, albida forests, and riverine systems create a constantly changing canvas of light, mood, and atmosphere a place where every hour offers something new to capture.
This safari combines the very best of two iconic destinations over an unforgettable journey. From the intimate, eye-level encounters of Hwange’s hides to the raw, immersive wilderness of Mana Pools, you’ll experience Africa in a way that few ever do. The diversity, the emotion, and the connection to nature will leave a lasting impression long after the safari has ended.
Join us on this extraordinary photographic adventure a journey designed not just to capture images, but to truly feel Africa in its most authentic form.
